GSN schedule upheaval March 30th

For those who missed it, our own Alex Davis gave us some hints to what this "big announcement" might be about over at the GSN Buzz boards. He writes...

"Just to dispell a few rumors before it goes any further:

*It's got nothing to do with the acquisition of something like Price is Right, as of now.
*It's got nothing to do with a spin-off channel.
*It's got nothing to do with the Fremantle debacle.

It's just more got to do with, like Fred said, programming and scheduling and why The Money List is on when it is, as it stands right now."

Hope this helps, gang!

That last line of Alex's frightens me - could my sarcasm have been RIGHT?

Found this quote in some GSN press material touting their 2nd quarter programming:

"GSN is pumping up its programming this quarter with two marathons, two new shows, a new season of a fan favorite, and finally, something so big it will change Saturday night as we know it. "

The two marathons, by the way, are Donnymid on Mother's Day, and Password (all versions) on Father's Day.

There isn't a heck of a lot else it could be (certainly nothing in Sony's library would qualify and that certain G/T show apparently ain't it)

The 'fan favorite' is likely Lingo or possibly Whammy! One new show certainly is Newlywed, while 'big Saturday night' thing... again, the only big thing I can think of is a DoND pickup...

They may be talking about Catch-21 since its new season starts on April 6th.

You're exactly right... I figured all of that would have been common knowledge so I didn't even mention it.

If it's not DoND, it absolutely HAS to be Show Me The Shi....um...Money.

Everyone's clamoring for it's return, right?

As much as we trash on Casey A, he brought up one thought that I hadn't thought of before--MDP.  I don't know if that's "enough to change Saturday nights as we know it" though.

(caution, joke ahead for those of you who are taking all posts seriously)
Maybe they're going to remake "Time Out For Trivia" with Fred Roggin in the Todd Donoho host role. That would certainly remake MY Saturdays.
(that is the end of the joke. if you didn't get it, tough.)
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

My thought is it could be another interactive block, maybe similar to GSN Live, but with bigger payouts than we're accustomed to.

Only if GSN makes new episodes. Just running the same dozen (?) over and over isn't enough.

/but I wouldn't put it past them anyway
