The Game Show Awards would be interesting IF only I had digital cable in my parent's basement.  Aw, crap!

Seriously. if William Shatner wins the Best Celebrity Player award, I'll do a tripple facepalm.  My money's riding on NPH.

As for some of the interesting categories:

Favoritte Parting Gift:  Gotta go with the Rice-a-Roni though a home game version isn't that bad a prize in its own right.

Best Sound EFfect:  Can't go wrong with the classic Bankrupt whistle.

Best Prize:  Cash is good, but a New Car is even better.

Aw, I was hoping to see any Samoan attacking Barker in the Funniest Momments category, but Yolanda will have to do.

Best Game Show Theme:  TPIR though I could make a case for WoF's original theme from Alan Thicke.  That was a good theme.  Tuning Up should've been up there instead of the $25K one.  Oh well.

Or, you could just use the cash to buy the new car.

Criminy, Burton Richardson got a nomination, but John O'Hurley DID NOT?!?!?
[/quote]
That one's got me a little stumped, too. But! You'll notice Johnny Gilbert is nominated.
Say, did any of you catch this nominee for best game show catch phrase?:

Stop throwing the cable box out the window and maybe you will.

(or am I thinking of someone else, in regards to throwing certain items out the window?)

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

Nope, you nailed it, except he keeps the cable box and tosses out the TV. :)

Basements have windows too...and I thought he just upgraded to throwing cable boxes out of windows. :)

You know what goes good with a game show award show?  Steak.  A nice, big, juicy, hard-to-cut-with-just-your-fork steak. Mmmm, I can smell those sauteed mushrooms now...

Good idea, have a GSN party on 6/6

Seriously, though, are these airing live or taped ahead? It didn't say jack on the site anything about that. I would think live being an awards show, but does GSN have the ability to do this live? They aren't CBS/ABC/NBC/FOX and might not have the crew to pull that one off.

Almost certainly not live.  It's just easier and safer to do these sorts of things in advance, even a few days in advance.  They gain nothing by doing it live, and they set themselves up for disaster if something goes wrong.  Lots of made-for-TV awards shows are taped in advance (note this Sunday's TV Land Awards).

I looked at the list of categories, and at least IMHO, two categories that SHOULD be there and aren't are classic host and classic panelist/regular. The classic host should be other than those eligible this year. Since they seem to be listing in groups of 10, here's my Top Ten list of Classic Hosts:

Bob Barker
Dick Clark
Bill Cullen
Richard Dawson
Bob Eubanks
Monty Hall
Tom Kennedy
Allen Ludden
Peter Marshall
Gene Rayburn

For classic panelist/regular:

Arlene Francis
Dorothy Kilgallen
Betsy Palmer
Bill Cullen
Kitty Carlisle
Orson Bean
Joan Alexander
Paul Lynde
George Gobel
Richard Dawson

I realize GSN may not want to do the latter category since it mostly relates to the B&W shows they just yanked off. But I think it would be a nice touch if they at least acknowledge these people.
