$50,000 Pyramid question
« on: July 17, 2009, 02:54:33 PM »
I've only been exposed to one episode, and Dick's wording was kinda vague - did they play out the final round of the main game Mystery 7 style in case it set the time for the week?

IIRC, his wording was "If you're on the pace." My guess would be if, for example, the time to beat to qualify was 21 seconds, once they passed that, they'd stop you if you won the game.

Anticipating a potential follow-up question, if the game ended in a tie, the tie-breaker round(s) were not counted in the Player Of The Week standings if a team got all 7.

In the two episodes that I have, he doesn't even rise to the level of vague. Then again, I didn't notice whether anyone was "on pace" or not. If they played it out in that scenario, that's a HUGE omission to make in explaining the rules. ETA: I also saw one episode during its original run, and I don't recall any mention of it then either.

I've only seen the premiere. In the first game, the winning team casually gets 6 out of 7 and wins the game a few seconds after the time of the week. In the second half, Dick asks Sal Viscuso to "answer fast, but the lady needs X points."
