Afternoon TPiR in the East
« on: July 06, 2009, 05:25:55 PM »
CBS just sent their coverage plans for the Michael Jackson funeral on Tuesday 7/7/09.  Their coverage starts around 1:00 (all times eastern), which would normally cut into the middle of "The Young and the Restless".  So...they're bumping "Y&R" to 11:00, local news at noon as normal, "Bold & Beautiful" at 12:30.  They'll join "Guiding Light" in progress, then TPiR will air at 3:00pm.  Other time zones appear to be similarly changed; Price appears to be airing in "Guiding Light"'s time slot all across the board.

I would *assume* then that for those who get GL at 10/9c, TPIR will air at 10/9c as well.

For those of you with DVRs and record TPIR, don't assume that you'll get this change in time.  If they sent the plans at 5 PM to the grid people, that might not make it to the nightly updates.  Trust me on this one.

...And for those playing along in the *central* time zones... IIRC it's Y&R at 10a, Bold and the Beautiful at 11a, Local Time at 11:30a, Jackson coverage from 12p-1:30pish, Guiding Light will be JIP'ed and then TPiR at 2p.  Essentially, your only major change is the 11a hour.

So, in Saginaw TPIR will be on the My affiliate at 10 tomorrow?
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Join The Guiding Light in progress, my eye. Katie'll keep yammering until it's time for TPiR. Maybe we'll even get a token tear.
Query! With CBS News offering team coverage to this, what will The Eye Network do if Walter Cronkite succumbs tomorrow?

WNEM says Due to CBS Network coverage of the Michael Jackson Memorial Service Tuesday, “The Young And The Restless” will be seen at 11 a.m. on TV5. “The Price Is Right” can be seen on MY5 at 10 a.m. Tuesday only.

What they should do: stop coverage and announce it with the class it should have.
What they could do:  announce it over the telecast (a la Howard Cosell when John Lennon died)
What they would do:  jack squat until the funeral was over.

If it all plays out like a "normal" day, I'd get TPIR at 9AM (because it would make sense to keep the feeding times the same but change the programs they feed, right?).  Not shabby.
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Wow, that's got to be the first time a My station has aired TPiR.  I wonder if they will plaster the My logo over the CBS eye?  I might have to record this.

When T(N)PiR first ran in 1972, it was on at 3:00 PM. Albeit for only a half hour.

You are WRONG! The program bowed at 10:30am New York time in 1972. The move to 3pm didn't happen until March 1973.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have scheduled Y&R for after the coverage? It's easier to get people to show up later than earlier...and since TPiR is in reruns anyway, seems Y&R is the important cog in this arrangement for CBS.

I thought the same thing as you, Chris, but then I realized what CBS may have realized. This could run considerably longer than is believed and since the network is mindful that the fan base of daytime's #1 rated drama is legion, they wanted to run no risk of pre-emption. If TPiR runs, terrific. If not, so what. It's an encore presentation. As for their plan of joining Guiding Light in progress, that show's a dead duck, so who cares. And under this plan, As The World Turns is back tomorrow with no loss of content.

This actually holds true here in Pittsburgh as KDKA announced during it's morning news that TPIR will air @ 10am today only.

KYW has TPiR at 10 a.m. today. You can probably all sleep better knowing this.

If you please, I'd like to know what time every city in America will be running The Price Is Right today and on what channel.
If possible, I'd also like to know what show will precede it, whether it be a network show or a syndicated offering. Thank you.
