I personally plan to be at the laundry and the library during the day. There will be no media coverage. I hope.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

My5 is WNEM-DT2, its their MyNetworkTV affiliate.

Oh yeah, down here on WWJ its on at 10, since they have been one of the stations airing GL at 10.

While I think it's very cool that TPiR gets a one-day afternoon slot, and I realize that soaps are important to those who watch them, I honestly thought the most CBS would do is either plug in something for 1/2 hour at 12:30 or just begin their coverage at 12:30.

Katie Couric can't vamp that long. Do you recall what happened on November 20th 2006?
Of course, they could bring in guest commentators Casey Kasem and Don Cornelius.

Looks like the memorial coverage is going past 3 PM Eastern in any case.

I honestly didn't think it would NOT go past 3pm (EST).

Coverage be damned here:  WSBT ran local commercials at 2:58, right into Dr. Phil at 3 (mind you, the same one from 9AM today).
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Here's a thought (feel free to WHOOSH if you need to) which of course completely negates my "Why would CBS go to all that trouble?!" post.

I don't think CBS probably ever intended to air TPiR - being a self-contained show, if it were joined in progress or completely wiped out, no big loss, so it made a perfect 3pm fill.
Y&R and B&B are unquestionably CBS's most popular soaps so they had to be scheduled (and the 11am and 12:30 EST slots were perfect). GL, IIRC, was to be JIP'd before TPiR and GL's a lame-duck, so it didn't really matter.

A Price show did air this morning in the 10am slot (for those stations that normally show GL in that slot) with the L.A. Dodgers making appearances.

For those who desperately want to see Guiding Light:

FORT WAYNE Ind. (WANE) - CBS coverage of Michael Jackson's funeral went longer than expected and because of that many viewers missed soap opera Guiding Light.

CBS will re-air the show from 2:37 a.m. to 3:37 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Don't know if this is just a Ft Wayne thing or national.

Norfolk got the same episode at 3pm...or at least from about 3:48-4:00. ;-)
