A Turkish game show where clergy compete to convert 10 athiests to their respective faiths.

The real question is, what happens if you lose?

Give me a good ol' bug-eating game any day.

I think they combined the two about 1000 years ago. "Still not worshiping Christ, eh? Maybe after you eat this bug!" Then Fremantle came along and changed the format beyond all recognition. And that's the story of how they came up with Show-Offs.

I read this article several days ago. Most of you know where I am on issues of faith, and I would join many of you in considering the idea absolutely ridiculous and even repugnant. Coersion is not conversion. Converts are not scalps on belts to keep score. And as the copywriter at many stations, it was always frustrating when a salesperson stretched the benefits and downplayed the negatives to a client just to get the sale. Making others play You Bet Your Eternal Life is no laughing matter. And I say this with respect to those in the forum with non-religious views to avoid making this a flame war over theology. Just my two cents, ladies and gents....

And as one of those people, your opinion is very sensible and the respect is returned. Would that your bretheren were as respectful.

Agreeing wholeheartedly with The Distinguished Gentleman from WI, I have to say that "You Bet Your Eternal Life" is a pretty good title.  If this were an SNL sketch, they'd really have something (and I'd have no complaint).

Both the atheist and the religious contestant are immediately audited, have their thetan levels checked and are forced to convert to Scientology.

I'll drop a line to Hasbro to see if they'll pick up on that. It would knock Partini right off the shelf. Based on the current situation in China, the game already has a killer sales slogan:
"Make your next party a riot!"

They sort of did it on The Jeffersons. In a dream sequence, George's eternal fate is to be decided on a game show, Wheel of Forever, hosted by Tom Willis.

When I told one of my friends about this, he just said, "That's unbelievable."  I think that'd make a pretty good name, too.

Conan mentioned this in a monologue this week, he said this show will have an actual lightning round.

THAT'S how Tattletales got started? And to think all this time I thought it was based off of He Said, She Said. Who knew?

Tease! I thought Carl Reiner's sitcom was going back into production.
