Another Plug For "Stu's Show"

Mark Evanier notes that the guests on yesterday's "Stu's Show" on Shokus Internet Radio were Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall. They've been together over 50 years (married 45 of them, IIRC), and have done a lot in the world of comedy (they were part of the bill the night the Beatles did the "Ed Sullivan Show") and are still making people laugh. They were all over game shows in the 70's, making multiple appearances on "Tattletales", and also appearing on "Match Game", "Rhyme and Reason" and "The Gong Show". Mark describes the repeat times for you to listen - remember, "Stu's Show" does NOT work like a podcast you can listen to at any time. You have to be there. Just like old fashioned radio. Have fun!

Very nice show.  Stu was more restrained than usual and really let the couple reminisce in their own words.  Don't go in expecting two hours of Tattletales stories, but they do talk at some length about their game show experience, with some details I hadn't heard before.  (Among the nuggets: Apparently, the trashing of the Rhyme and Reason set was Pat Harrington's idea.)  Speaking of things I didn't know, turns out Mitzi had a pretty successful side career as a sitcom writer.  They talked about ALF, One Day at a Time and Charles In Charge, the IMDB lists several others.

Plus you've got the odd treat of Jack Riley (Mr Carlin on The Bob Newhart Show) sitting back, barely audible at times, tossing around funny lines. Check it out.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
