Loves it. It's all beautiful, I cannot wait to see it in HD. Plus, Craig Ferguson on the season premiere is right up my alley.
Great day for America, indeed?
Oh goody, the corporate-sanitized version of g-r.net. I wonder how heavily they're going to wield their ability to control content posted by users.
Sentiments are echoed slightly, but god forbid PIR takes advantage of technology and a different medium to put up a place for its fans to convene and converse.  Whatever could be the utility in doing such a thing?

But isn't that the idea Chris?  A website where new TPIR fans (and oldies) can just like the show, and like Drew, and be excited about it and post about it?
Nothing wrong with a Drew flatterfest, but I do have a problem with censorship. If flattering posts are the only kind of post they allow, they're going to have very little message traffic and people will still flock to g-r.net or here. On our board we do very little censoring based on opinions people express. It does get contentious here, but we allow our members to dish the dirt (short of committing libel). If someone posted "Bart: Fired or Retired?" on the Fremantle board and it's immediately taken down, you can kiss the original poster of that thread goodbye as well as those who wanted to discuss the subject.
Yes, and someone wanting to debate Bart's firing would find their way here. Here on The Forum the majority of members are serious gamers, and the discussions are savvy and erudite.  I'm thinking that this new website is simply, and I mean "simply" in the literal and figurative sense of the word, for fans who just want to like and chat about TPIR.  That's all.

Wait.  Are you saying that the rightsholders of a product would take measures to ensure that their product is shown in a positive light on its own website?  What do they think this is, the Internet?

If people want to grouse about TPIR, they can still come here or g-r.  If they want the official product with all the shiny bells and whistles, they can go to tpir.com.  I fail to see the problem here, unless Fremantle suddenly serves a "cease to exist" order on Matt and Chris.

Chris and Matt don't use any trademarks of Price, nor any other show on the site.  Price would have no case to limit discussion here.

A good majority of the Pricing Game clips on that site have their audio out of sync with the video.

I think they're trying to get the more casual fan. The people who aren't cognizant of nor interested in the backstage goings-on.

And they'll get them. But this is still the Internet; they will also get the Zach Horans and the folks who were even too fanb0i for G-R who now see another opportunity to show the world how "inside" they are.

I could *totally* see a thread like that starting.

Who's Zach Horans, and why do you spell it f-a-n-b-0-i ?

Zach was a former poster dating back to the ATGS era (our former newsgroup home in the late-90s/early-2000s). He had a habit of reciting literally every game show statistic known to man. However, he had a tendency to be quite obnoxious as to how he presented his facts, and often presented more info than was requested, and even repeating facts long after other posters had mentioned them. Long story short, as long as he was able to say he posted the info, he was content, without regard to other posters.

He was also a borderline troll, pulling obnoxious stunts on general principle, sometimes to test the waters (and the mods' patience). His ego pretty much got him banned from this forum, when he made insensitive jokes about June Allyson following her death in 2006. Because he was such a "great source of info", he figured he was invincible. He was wrong.

I'm only beginning to scratch the surface...someone else take it from here. :-P

Sigh. I bet he's bouncing in his little chair while he reads this, even as we speak.

Zach is a former member here who actually goes all the way back to the original Usenet newsgroup where many of us first met.  His name is usually invoked as the extreme example of someone who wants to spout obscure facts and figures to show how smart he is, but just ends up being super annoying.  We threw him out when it became obvious that he was more interested in being annoying than being informative.

I'm not sure why we adopted the weird spelling of 'fanboy', but we're using the term in its standard definition.  Wikipedia says "highly devoted and biased in opinion towards a single subject", and that's pretty much it.

EDIT:  Not surprisingly, others beat me to it.  And yes, Chris is right, he's probably getting a huge kick out of the fact that we're talking about him, even negatively.  Sad, really.

I think the fact that the first post which asked "when the new Season starts" was made 9 days before the site officially opened to the public is a pretty good indication of how they intend to use the site  :)

I love the fact that the first response to Mike Richards little intro there directs him to G-R.Net for all the inside pictures and information.    I hope Mike gets time to tour the site.
