Veteran Entertainer Lends His Voice to New Poker Game Show
LOS ANGELES, CA--(09/27/09) You may not know his face, but you definitely know his voice. Oates Media Group, announced today that it has signed on veteran voice-over artist Randy West to perform his "magic on the mic" for their newest game show production, "Shuffle Up and Deal".
"Shuffle up and Deal" is a new "family friendly" poker themed game show. Unlike the typical poker shows on the air today, which feature professional dealers, dealing cards to professional players, unaffordable buy-ins and slow play, "Shuffle Up and Deal" is a fast-paced game show where contestants pit their luck, intuition and skill, against each other.
In each episode, amateur poker players choose their own cards from an oversized electronic board, and the turn of each card either helps the contestant's hand or destroys their chances of winning.
The main objective of the game is to finish with the largest amount of cash winnings amongst all the contestants, and advance to the million dollar bonus round. Randy will perform play-by-play to the very end.
Randy West is one of the more versatile performers in television game shows today. He has been entrusted with the announcing and audience warm-up duties on television’s longest-running and most successful game show, CBS’ venerable “The Price Is Right.” He has lent his talents to NBC’s “Deal or No Deal,” as well as the network and syndicated versions of "Weakest Link". Randy has announced a wide variety of TV shows including "The Newlywed Game", "Supermarket Sweep", "Hollywood and Crime", Nickelodeon's "Kids' Choice Awards", "Hollywood Showdown", "All New 3's a Crowd" and the California Lottery’s "Big Spin".
"The poker craze has swept the nation!" says Randy. "'Shuffle Up and Deal" taps into the popularity of the game, while making the action accessible to a wider audience. The familiar game show elements will comfortably open up the drama and excitement to new fans, while poker afficionados will enjoy the suspenseful high stakes play and the traditional unpredictability of their favorite game."
Randy says he sees his role as enhancing the drama and making the nuances of play relatable to viewers on all levels of familiarity with poker, while never intruding on the exciting action.
"Shuffle Up and Deal" will also feature an interactive component where home viewers are invited to play the "Follow the Ace" game, in which they enter, via their home phone or cellular telephone keypad, which of five "shuffled" cards they believe is the Ace of Spades. Those who select the right card number are entered into a random drawing, to win a $10,000 prize.
"Shuffle Up and Deal" is planned to go into production November 2009.
