I'm happy to note that for the occasional criticisms we get about our nastiness on this forum, those comments came from elsewhere. Here, we're happy for Chris and wish him (retroactively) nothing but the best.
Mostly. Chad Mosher had the fifth post in the thread, including the one transcripter. And he's in such wonderful company as Bo Bielefeldt, who always seems to win as much money as the contestant in-play, but with more lifelines. Hm.
(EDIT: I would note that Chad's response is...tame compared to some of the other ones that followed.)
Another thing, rather off-topic...I don't want to say it's hurtful, 'cause ultimately they're just words from people I will never meet, but it's strange reading around other message boards and Twitter pages and seeing that other people found me irritating and "more annoying than those dummies on Catch 21".
I don't understand this. It is a game show. People have the chance to win real money here, and in the case of Millionaire, really big money. If we take zero as the contestants on Inquizition and 100 as the most sorely obnoxious ones on US Deal, where are contestants supposed to rate on the Excite-o-Meter? It sounds like the Bored wants the hot seat players to be at a nice robust 12.
I don't buy it. Catch-21 players are coached to be that excited. But then, what show DOESN'T coax a bit of excitement out of the players, other than Jeopardy. Given what I saw in the thread, I think that the Bored is largely made up of portentous elitist gits.
(I will append to my declaration that Jeff Gross (15QuestionsAway) has been very nice in the limited e-mail contact I've had with him. Ed Toutant (TheConfessor here and there) is a fine human being, and no less than Dan Avila seems to be as solid a guy as his last two game show appearances would demonstrate. So it isn't all just a bunch of people saying to cool it.)
