TPIR 7,000 shows

While I haven't seen the Price 7,000 Episodes Celebration yet, Rich and Drew's Twitter accounts have mentioned that Rich Fields has announced just over 1,000 shows.  How many have Johnny and Rod each announced for comparison?

I know that Johnny announced from 1972-1985 and Rod from about late-1985 until 2003.  Anybody able to offer a rough guess?

Just curious.

I think for the first several years of Johnny's era, the show aired year-round, right? So maybe about 225 episodes, give or take, for the first 9 seasons is 2,025. From 10-13, maybe 190 per season which is 760 (2,785) Add in the episodes he did for season 14, and I'd say a little more than 2,800.

From Rod's era on, I'm guessing they did maybe, what, 175 shows a season, for 18 or so seasons, which is 3,150?

So Johnny: 2,800
Rod: 3,150
Rich: 1,050

All give or take...

I'm not sure if that also counts for the subs after Johnny's and Rod's death (Bob Hilton, Gene Wood, Burton Richardson, Randy West, et al.)

I'm sure you weren't. I saw no kinds of promotion whatsoever, unlike the crazy media hullabaloo about the 5,000th show.

Wasn't really the 7,000th, anyway. They passed that presumably over 100 shows ago.

I had no idea, either...I was surprised that they made such a hoopla about it, though.  Their 7500th show I think would be a more noteworthy milestone.

One tweak they did on the show that wouldn't be so bad to keep permanently would be to raise the stakes on Lucky Seven:  

Instead of playing with seven $1 bills, bump it up to seven $100 bills (the $1000 packs were overkill).  If you're going to throw a $1000 "bonus" every time someone wins on Clock Game, you should give a good Lucky Seven player a chance to win up to $600 extra, or whatever they have left.

Compared to some of the other money tweaks they've made over the last few years, $600 is a drop in the bucket.

Drop in the bucket for the overall prize budget, yes. But they're already giving the winner in Lucky Seven a car, versus two sub-$1,000 prizes in Clock Game.

Does 7,000 episodes really deserve a media hullabaloo, though? Yeah, it's a lot of shows, but it's not exactly a milestone (e.g. 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000).

Here's a list of how many daytime shows every announcer has done as of today's 7,147th episode.  (This doesn't include the week of 494xK, which isn't really supposed to have aired yet.)

And although 7,000 is worthy of a press release, I wouldn't say it's extremely newsworthy, esp. since the show became the longest-running game show more than two decades ago...

I wouldn't think so, either...but they've already done more commercials for the show in general in the two years Drew's been hosting than they did in the last 15 years or so of the Barker era, and CBS went out of its way to advertise the "6,000th" show, so I was surprised there wasn't more hype over this one.
