What channel number was GSN occupying on DirectTV before it moved to 309? I know it was in the 200s level but can anybody tell me?

I know I should file this into the "Who Cares?" file, but for some reason, 257 pops into my mind, dunno if that is right.

Just because I got curious, went to internet archive - 257 was the channel number before 309.

Of course, Iris probably knew it all along and is just "quizzing" us.

And I can tell you that it was added to the channel lineup of the USSB edition of TV Guide sometime between mid-September and mid-November of 1997 (listed at the front in the "Other DSS Channels" section, i.e., DirecTV's channels).  Don't know when it was actually added to the lineup.

Hell, I don't think it was Iris at all.  The post didn't have any run-on sentences in it.

Can anyone remember the C-band satellite/transponder for GSN at its launch? ;)

(I can't -- I can't even remember my old Compuserve email address anymore)

Same thing. "T" stands for "Transponder."

And now, for bonus points, who was the genius who came up with that mnemonic? ;)
