Concentration Hour.
You left out "$1,000,000 Concentration Hour." Not sure if "$1,000,000" counts as a word.
Let's see -- nine dollar values ranging from $0.01 to $1,000,000:

$0.01

$0.10

$1

$10

$100

$1,000

$10,000

$100,000

$1,000,000

x 2 = 18 plus 2 takes, 2 forfeits and 3 wild cards = 25 squares. Yeah, it could work.
Since Conan had to uproot his family to move to L.A., he deserves to get something for his trouble--maybe a once-a-week free form hour in prime time.  Jack Paar had one on Fridays in the early-to-mid '60s that did pretty well.  As for games, I could suggest a couple, but they'd never go for them.
I agree about his troubles, but I don't think this will be a problem.  I think Conan is really in the driver's seat from all of this.  Me personally, I preferred his material when he was on at 12:30 (or 12:35) - I have no clue why, it just seemed better.

I just hope this is the bonus round and not the main game.
Ferguson is a genius.
He is terrific, isn't he? I loved Tom Snyder at 12:37am yet couldn't stand Craig Kilborn, but I think Craig Ferguson is outstanding.
I'm happy to see CBS showing signs that it may be owning the late night hours.
As for the five hours to fill (so help me) one of the shows being heralded is an L.A.-based edition of Law & Order.

Have you forgotten about Jimmy Fallon or does your scenario have him getting pink-slipped?
Thanks for catching my blunder, Don.  I don't know what I was thinking -- if I was even thinking at the time.

OTOH, the latest news stories I've read pretty much confirm that Carson will be the one getting pink-slipped.

Well, since NBC has the 10PM slot empty..maybe they can switch a drama that is currently at 9 or 8 and put it at 10 for a good lead in to the news. Then they could bring back Deal or No Deal or Howie Do It.

Already said they're not bringing it back.

DEAR GOD PLUCK OUT MY EYEBALLS NO.

FWIW, NBC's affiliate programming site still lists Leno at 10/9 after the Oly's, so they're still mulling over the replacements.

Well, I somewhat (but respectfully) disagree. He's no laugh riot, but he makes me chuckle. Good enough for me.

Different tastes, I suppose.

My wife had a good idea for Fallon: See if he'll come back to SNL.
Protecting idiots from themselves just leads to more idiots.

Absolutely. If we all agreed, I would have a lot of free time on my hands. :)

(Still, though, I urge you to give Ferguson a shot for a week or so, if you haven't already.)

Eh... I never cared for him on SNL too terribly much (he had a few good skits, but was atrocious on Weekend Update).  Besides, Andy Samberg has more or less taken Fallon's 'role' on the show.

Yeah, and NBC has SUCH a good track record for never, ever, ever changing their minds.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Anyone who can produce a coherent hour comedy talk show featuring nothing but puppets deserves that everyone give him a shot.

I don't know what the big deal is for NBC to plug programming here. Law and Order repeats, or new episodes. Bring L&O: CI back to NBC. Bam, done, good ratings, happy affiliates.

I don't really see the lack of Leno at 10pm causing some big problem with NBC and finding additional programming. They have plenty to go around.

I don't think just putting a drama in the 10 slot will automatically mean restored ratings.  I think it'll have to be a new series.
