Did you even *notice* that you were just politely told to not steal his act?
Oh. Apparently not. Sorry.
You don't become a good writer by copying another person's style. I'm not going to sell a science-fiction story because I can ape Philip K. Dick's style completely, but because I have my own style, quirks and ways to tell a story. You will only become adept as a reviewer or writer through a great deal of practice as well as reading.
When I wrote my first stories (long-since gone from the internet), I did them in a script-like format because I was uncertain of how a novel-esque format would go. When I wrote this "review", I wanted to make it a sort of "offshoot" of (and compliment to) the GSHGHP with the same format -- and I credit Matt and his site for the format with a link to said site.
However, none of that excuses what I did...or, for that matter, how horrible I feel over the whole thing.
Just off the top of my head, putting the almanac-type info in a sidebar (the game's contents, etc.), and leaving the body open to your review would already make it worlds different from Matt's page. I would also put thumbnails within my text, clicking on them to expand.
If I knew how to do that, I would. I know very little about HTML.
Matt didn't invent using Verdana or that layout, but "flattering" would be far from my vocabulary when describing your aping of it.
In all honesty, I don't know of any other sites that review game show board games in detail. And again, I wanted to make my reviews a sort of GSHGHP-esque pages. Still, that doesn't excuse what I did -- either that review will be the only one in that style, or it'll be changed once a second review is written in a different style.
The actual content was okay, and covered a board game I was curious about.
This, in essence, was the whole point of my review -- going in-depth on the games that the GSHGHP, at this time, does not.
