$50:  Things on a checkerboard
$150:  Sounds exactly like 'four'.

Going to play out a technicality here.  The box is "What Flipper might say", not "What *A* Flipper might say".  Chris - is your clue technically legal?  Seems like it probably wouldn't be, since "Flipper" was clearly a thing and "a flipper" is something completely different.

"Numberwang".  No need for "numbers that are".

I'd accept it. I guess the flip side would be if the category was something like "What a fern might say", and a girl with that name was giving the clues.

The Tet Offensive (maybe not militarily, but certainly politically)

Waiting until after the peace treaty was signed and the Americans pretty much left, then invading in force

(It didn't say successful for which country, now did it?)

How about:

Half-Hour Network Daytime TV Shows?

("The Bold and the Beautiful...uh...The Emperor's New School..." - note it doesn't say weekday shows)

Methinks you're missing the point. One can come up with *a* clue for damned near all of these. But if you have to say "hey, here's a clue, and it fits the category because of this oh-so-clever loophole I found in your logic," then it's not really a clue worth giving, is it?
