THE PRICE IS RIGHT MILLION DOLLAR SPECTACULAR will celebrate host Bob
Barker's 80th birthday with a new primetime special to be broadcast
Saturday, Dec. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television
Network. Contestants will have the opportunity to win prizes,
including sports and luxury cars, boats and exotic vacations, and the
chance to spin the wheel for $1 million.

In a THE PRICE IS RIGHT history-making event, the showcase winner in
this special episode walks away with the largest amount in cash and
prizes ever won by a single contestant in the 32-year run of the show.

Barker, whose birthday is Dec. 12, will be joined by special guests
Larry King ("Larry King Live"), a longtime friend, and Chuck Norris
("Walker, Texas Ranger"), a former karate teacher of Barker's.

In addition, videotaped greetings will be aired from actors on
several CBS shows, including Ray Romano ("Everybody Loves Raymond"),
David James Elliott and Catherine Bell ("JAG"), Joe Mantegna, Mary
Steenburgen and Amber Tamblyn ("Joan of Arcadia"), Mark Addy and Jami
Gertz ("Still Standing"), Ted Danson ("Becker"), Charlie Sheen and
his wife, Denise Richards ("Two and a Half Men"), and a special
birthday wish from Celine Dion.

Barker was born in 1923 in Darrington, Wash., and raised on the
Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where his widowed mother
taught school. After serving as a Navy pilot during World War II, he
graduated from Drury College in Springfield, Mo., and worked in radio
there and in Florida before moving to Los Angeles, where Ralph
Edwards hired him for "Truth or Consequences" in 1956.

Barker has hosted THE PRICE IS RIGHT since its premiere on CBS in
1972. During his first three years on the show, he was also
hosting "Truth or Consequences," which he hosted for 18 seasons. This
year marks his 47th on network television.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT is now in its 32nd year and is television's
longest-running game show. It is a Mark Goodson Production, in
association with FremantleMedia, North America, Inc. Bob Barker is
executive producer, Phillip Wayne Rossi and Roger Dobkowitz are the
producers and Bart Eskander is the director. The series is broadcast
weekdays (11:00 AM-12:00 Noon, ET; 10:00-11:00 AM, PT) on the CBS
Television Network.
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

At first I thought it spoiled things, but it really doesn't, if you think about it..

"the showcase winner in this special episode walks away with the largest amount in cash and prizes ever won by a single contestant in the 32-year run of the show"

This could be a few things...
* The million-dollar spin is finally attained and that person also wins the showcase
* The million-dollar spin is finally attained and that person also wins BOTH showcases
* No million-dollar win, but someone wins a very expensive showcase
* No million-dollar win, but someone won BOTH showcases...

And WE would say that "this biggest winner in TPIR history" gets an asterisk because it comes from a primetime show. A lot of US consider Danielle's $88,876 record from almost 12 years ago the all time TPIR winner.

Yep...the record was technically thrice surpassed (on the 25th AS that aired in 1996, one of the 2002 military specials, and on the first of the three $1M spectaculars that aired this past May), but as per Roger Dobkowitz himself, they don't count primetime wins in that manner.
