OK, Larry Miller and edgy Muppets?  For the first time in a long time, I'm anxiously awaiting a GSN original.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Here's the GSN press release...- Well, you can tell who they're trying to parody for the most part...

From the PR: "raucous panel shows such as Match Game, Hollywood Squares, To Tell The Truth and The Gong Show."

Yup, I still remember Kitty Carlisle flashing the contestants on To Tell The Truth.
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

It sounds different and appealing, unlike some of GSN's more recent originals. I'll give it a try.

Well they seem to be going all out on this- they've activated part of the official show site, and it's pretty funny (and other things coming soon look good as well)..

I can already hear the criticisms against it.  If you're watching for the purpose of watching a game show, there's not a lot there.  But as far as I'm concerned, this may very well be the best original GSN has ever created.  Thoroughly entertaining program from start ("...and I'm a weasel!") to finish (a surprisingly engaging end game).  Frankly staggering production values by typical GSN standards, and a loose glibness and series of running jokes that suggests a show that's already been going a long time.  Golly, but somebody worked hard (and spent money) on this.

OK, yes, it helps that I'm a huge fan of Larry Miller and the Muppets already, but there were dozens of ways this could have turned out wrong.  Look no further than Burt Ludden to see how hard it is to pull off a heavily scripted comedy show that's still an actual game.  For the first time since the IGAS remake (and the classic IGAS reruns), I've got a GSN show on my season pass.

There are many things to say, but I think this point is A-1.

I couldn't help but note that the game was essentially decided by the Temptation Vault.

If you watch to laugh or be entertained, you'll love it. If you watch expecting thrilling game play and brain-wracking decisions, you will be disappointed.

I dug the whole thing from the cold open. The final Dis-or-Dat round was a nice touch.
