I'd be willing to be they go back to the mechanical "flipping" board, and use a monitor for Fast Money.
That would be an interesting sight, but it's simply impractical. Playing the game on a giant monitor instead of printing up 30 answer placards a show is just so much more cost-effective.

I agree.

But even the mechanical board is still more cost-effective than the cost three giant HD monitors, as Lidoron suggested.

I thought I had read somewhere that the top prize was back down to 20k, which would indicate that Bullseye went away (imo a good thing).

If I wanted to do 500, I'd do 1x/2x/2x/3x/3x, but the way the show's blocked out would have to change, and since they aren't playing for cash in the front game, it really doesn't matter.
This signature is currently under construction.
Okay, how about a couple small fixes that might actually be interesting...

Dump Bullseye and the car and institute the Bert's Family Feud version of Fast Money.
I really wasn't a big fan of the way they did Fast Money..it just seemed broken. There was no suspense, because if the first player gets all 5 number ones, the second player is 40 or less points away, and the celebration is (almost) inevitable and therefore not climatic. But if you flip that around... Dad has a tough round, nets us 47 points, I bat cleanup, get all 5 number ones, and we only get $5K....wha? I work my tail off in cleanup for the door prize? Equal pay for equal work, my friend. I'd rather take the Family Fortunes route, and offer a larger cash prize for winning with all 5 number ones on the board.

Dump the stupid family intro videos and make Steve Harvey actually interview the families.
Agreed. The contestant vids this season were way too cheesy for me. Besides, it's roughly 15-20 seconds per family, IIRC, cause they also talk about what they'll do if they win a chunk of change. Ask the captain what (s)he does, and have them introduce the team. It's the same amount of time.
Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

Get rid of the families and make it unrelated teams of five.  Get rid of the points in main game and make it best two out of three.  200 points to win in Fast Money and increase the # questions and the time alotted to make it winnable, but more of a challenge.  Timing problem solved.

Chris, you correctly got it.  It was sort of a knock on the Pyramid plans.  Serious about the rest, though.

I probably am.   Got a little carried away there.  Sorry.

I'm just happy that based on what we're hearing, it sounds like the show could be going back to it's "needlepoint/fiddle music" roots.

Fair enough. Just gotta take into account that it's not just the price of building the actual set piece and printing up cards, but the salaries of the stagehands you need to operate it. That's where the REAL savings is. Just a wild-assed guess, but I bet the old Feud paid someone to operate the eggcrate boards, someone to operate the manual game board, and a couple of stagehands behind the board to load / rotate it. With an LCD screen you are boiling four jobs down into one, AND you'll never have a prolonged stop-down in the case of mechanical error. That pays for itself in a HURRY.

They should bring back the "playing for dollars, not points" and raise the stakes a tad.

Simple award system:

Front Game:  $5 per point for both families' final scores at the end of the match ($500 minimum for losing family if score < 100 pts.).
Fast Money:   $10 per point if Fast Money is not won.

On average, on a non-winning Fast Money day, you probably split $3-4K between 2 families. Nothing to write home about, but a nice 1/2 hour's pay for the families that don't win big.

Next.
