I really wasn't a big fan of the way they did Fast Money..it just seemed broken. There was no suspense, because if the first player gets all 5 number ones, the second player is 40 or less points away, and the celebration is (almost) inevitable and therefore not climatic. But if you flip that around... Dad has a tough round, nets us 47 points, I bat cleanup, get all 5 number ones, and we only get $5K....wha? I work my tail off in cleanup for the door prize? Equal pay for equal work, my friend. I'd rather take the Family Fortunes route, and offer a larger cash prize for winning with all 5 number ones on the board.
Anything is better than the current format, where you can nail all 5 number ones and get nothing more than $800 for your efforts. Even my dad rants about how impossible the bonus round is when the #1's are worth 20-23-26 points.
(Actually, I'm not familiar with the rules you're quoting, and a Google/Wikipedia search is turning up nothing. How did they do Fast Money exactly? The first person gets some sort of bonus for #1's? I'm not really following.)

Fast Money: $10 per point if Fast Money is not won.
Let's say the final score is 427-290. $3,585 being paid out. Let's say they score 180 in fast money. That's another $1800. You're paying out almost $4500 more in just one episode then you have been since 'Nam.
So? How much more is Jeopardy! paying out every episode than they did in 1984? How much more is Wheel of Fortune paying out in the Speed-Up Round alone than they did in 1976?
Cash payouts that looked fine thirty years ago can seem outright chintzy in 2010. Not that I'm saying Feud needs an injection of Mo' Money, but you're allowed to make at least a token gesture toward inflation once every couple decades or so.
/Also, I'd rather say 'Each person on the team gets $290' than 'We'll give you $5 per point, for a total of $1,450'
