I didn't want to hijack the Pyramid thread since we're just discussing that one there.  According to this report from B&C, a talker from Columbia/Tristar with Valerie Bertinelli and Aussie talk show host Rove McManus shot a pilot last month.

Also on the table is a Password revival, which (and correct me if I'm wrong) hasn't even been discussed previously as a possibility.

Mods: If this is better merged into an older topic, please feel free to do so.

I remember reading Password casually thrown about, but nothing more than that.

IIRC, Password was discussed as a "potential candidate" shortly after ATWT was canceled, but that was it.

Bertinelli's name came up as a potential replacement for GL last year (a syndie chat show was in very early development for her for this past fall, but it went by the wayside for financial reasons).

These are my bets at the moment:
* Worst-Case Scenario: Julie Chen's talk show, possibly with Bertinelli's talk show.
* Best-Case Scenario: Pyramid, possibly with Emeril's game on the side (a combination guaranteed to make you say...BAM!).

Game shows are cheaper than talk shows (as the article points out), but CBS' syndication arm brought forth Valerie's new idea and Chen is Les Moonves' wife...

Yeah.

There is a reason why talk shows on daytime network (as opposed to daytime syndicated) TV have tanked and tanked quickly...

see: Bradshaw, Terry (FOX); Philbin, Regis (NBC); Letterman, David (NBC early 1980s); Warfield, Marsha (NBC)

/And most of the examples mentioned above tried to replace & do better in the ratings than the game shows they replaced.
//FAIL.

If you ask me, their picking up a talker would only end up delaying Pyramid or Emeril.  Any talk show will likely get low ratings and get canceled quickly... especially at 2PM where other stations (ABC affils notwithstanding) typically play hits like Dr. Phil and The Doctors.

I've heard from a regional sales representative in the market that stations are not obligated to pick up the new hour. WNEM is looking to replace that hour with Nate Berkus at 2pm and not carry that hour. Sounds legit as this was the same person that told me that the same program head was going to air Marie Osmond's talk show at 10am instead of Let's Make A Deal on 5-2.

According to Today's Variety, a Pilot was recently shot, called "Say It Now" starring Bertinelli and Australian TV Host Rove McManus. Unless other Pilots are shot, it seems the field is, Pyramid or Emeril, and the 2 Talk Shows (Chen & Bertinelli), though I recall hearing something about a Music Game Show Pilot that may have been shot as well.

It seems the plan is to pick 1 show, though I wonder if they might go with two 30 minute shows. If that happens, does anyone think they could pick 1 Game Show & 1 Talk Show ? I'd think not, but anything is possible.

Nate Berkus is airing at 10am on WNEM. Fingers crossed that the new 2pm hour isn't shuffled off to 5.2 for an hour of paid programs.
