I know.  It's still amusing that all the winning football teams in the town go away soon after.

Getting back on topic, I'd rather see Hole in the Wall than another lukewarm kiddie komedy, and I'd argue that CN's programming is, in general, moderately better than Nick's.

/Unnatural History sounds interesting, but I'd never get around to watching it

I grew up having Cartoon Network as just that: a place that airs cartoons like Scooby Doo(which is by far one of my favorites and that also has a new version of it airing on the channel, which actually is pretty good); i've watched unnatural history before several times and i've actually managed to turn my folks onto it and they enjoy it, that being said I don't know where Hole In The Wall would fit either than Fox, maybe Comedy Central or TBS, but those are long shots.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, CN has aired live action game type shows before and they're really hit and miss, although I guess most networks don't air what they're supposed to air nowadays.

I wish Seattle or Tacoma would get Arena Football; the closet we got was the Everett Hawks and they're defunct, I think
To say that a so-called "cartoon network" has been doing live-action programming is downright ridiculous. And when its Hole in the Wall ... would it work better on a channel like this, or should we not even think about it?
Starter question: do you watch a television show because it happens to be on a particular network, or because you want to watch that show? I could give a rip about poker being on GSN, or Not Cartoons being on Cartoon Network, or Dane Cook on Comedy Central. If people want to watch, they will. If they don't, they won't.

I thought the premise was done after the single episode, but if there are people who will sit through a half hour of it, more power to 'em.

The network does matter to me, because I have higher confidence of the ability of certain networks to produce certain types of shows. Or, at times, I have confidence in certain divisions of those networks. There was a time when the early saturday evening (not Adult Swim) portion of Cartoon Network was a "do no wrong" place for me, because they made strong programming decisions and repeatedly promoted shows that could be appreciated by a more diverse audience.  Certainly this is no longer the case.  These days, any original one hour fictional program that premieres on USA is going to get plenty of rub just because it's USA, and their track record has been stupendous in the last five years.

OTOH, CN has never had a game show, and their idea of what makes entertaining live action, based on their Canadian acquisitions, makes me have great reservations.  And USA promotion of a new reality show would not catch interest nearly as much as, say, a similar show on Bravo.

The one point I would add is that of being worried about yet another channel (I'm speaking generically here; not about Cartoon Network or the current case) becoming just another generic cable channel that has a similar lineup to three dozen other channels that are all trying to get the eyeballs of the "Target Demographic".  God knows BBC America seems to be going down that route, while the "Weather" Channel and National Geographic both seem to be having more and more of the same sort of disaster docudrama programs and green propaganda.  (Heaven forbid I want to get the weather when there might be a thunderstorm approaching.  Not that the Weather Channel zooms the radar on any of New York north of NYC, anyway.)

You know a channel has gone generic when it has the trifecta in the lineup.

- Star Trek: TNG
- Law and Order: SVU
- Wrestling

Mea culpa. Truth be told though, when they were first promoted on air, they were not being promoted as game shows, so I didn't give them too much thought anyway.
