I guess I'm hearing something different. If Roberto is the one doing the "Promotional Consideration"... In a word: Yuck.

It appears, if it is JD doing the consolation prize plugs before the second showcase showdown, that he has been asked to tone down his voice a little. For the last couple of days he sounds a little more normal than when he was first heard, IMHO.

There is a NEW video up at priceisright.com with Mike Richards, mentioning some NEW things that will be happening with the show.  It involves the models.  There is also some clips showing JD Roberto and Jeff Davis behind the podium.  Check it out.

You left out the part where they go to home viewer's house for the "Create Your Own Fantasy Showcase".

Well, after watching the SP earlier today - I must admit that JD Roberto didn't do that bad of a job.  Listening to him throughout the show, he reminded me a little of Roger Rose when he was sub-announcing after the passing of Rod Roddy. I just hope we won't have to contend with rotating announcers for the rest of the season. I hope they will choose one to be a permanent announcer.

I also loved the new chase lights and graphics at the beginning of the show. Very nifty!!

I disagree. There seems to be a trend away from announcers who sound like announcers. I liked announcers who sounded like announcers. JD doing the intro today just sounded like a regular guy yelling into a microphone.
I hope the others at least try to sound like announcers.
I don't want comedy, I want someone who sounds professional.
...Or is it possible to get both?

Unfortunately, it does seem to be a trend shows are getting away from. That is, shows that even bother to use announcers in the first place. JD's announcing was a bit jarring to me, but it just might take some getting used to for me. I had a similar reaction when I heard Joey Fatone announcing for Feud.

At least they do keep JD in studio...
