Roberto sounds perfectly serviceable to me. I think to suggest he's "unprofessional" is a stretch. A BIG stretch.
To boot/full disclosure:

Wasn't a big fan of his based off of the promotional annoucement v/o's during the summer but his ability to ad-lib (i.e. based off of the mother's lost car radio that was a lead-in to the car reveal and his "perfect prize for an Iowan -- a sailboat!") gets points from me.  Agreed with Chris re: "unprofessional."

What I'm saying is that it seems like he doesn't realize his mic is on, and Clay made a valid point as well. The problem is that it sounds really bush league. You don't want the public address guy doing color commentary during a baseball game, you want him to say "Now batting, That Guy" or to call for your attention when something is about to happen. If they want to build some sort of rapport, that's fine, but put JD on screen, then.
If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

You agree more than you realize.  fg's not saying that JD is clueless about the mike being on.  He's saying the end result is that it seems like he doesn't realize the mike is on.   Obviously (even for Fremantle), this is something that professional producers and professional audio engineers and professional announcer-types are not doing accidentally.  Still, the randomness of it gives the appearance that it's a mistake.

I guess it's all in how you're defining "professional". His reads are definitely clear and understandable, he just badly lacks the "voice", the talent that generally carries you to that spot to begin with. His high-pitched almost screaming of the intro and very bland cadence doesn't come across as the sound of a professional copy-reader. In the world of voiceovers, I can think of a couple things a voice like that might be useful for, but live announce is not one of them.

The randomness and not-that-funniness both. While J.D. is indeed able to spit out the copy, his voice just doesn't have the presence. He's no better than Rich. When they show him, it's as if he's the son-in-law of one of the producers.

Brad Sherwood might up the funny, but his voice is just as bland. Maybe Drew's pal David Lawrence, since he was a DJ, will have the vocal presence to pull it off. Gosh, I hope somebody can.

It's funny, though. Drew might be giving models mikes and putting the announcer on screen to be gregarious, but they add nothing, and only take away from the real stars, the contestants. Drew himself seems to be explaining the rules better this year, but isn't as funny. Yesterday, the showcase winner ran to where the car was and slid into the swanky backdrop--that's good stuff, but Drew is pretty boring.

Jeff Davis's shows are now airing in the afternoon, starting this week.

I thought he was pretty good on the intro and the come on downs, but his prize descriptions are a little weak. Definitely better than JD, though.

I'll agree that Davis has a much better voice, but he seems to be lacking energy.
His voice kind of reminds me of one of the announcers of the 80's, but who exactly escapes me.
Maybe he's a bit Jack Clark-ish?

Davis sounds an awful lot like the guy in the Netflix radio commercials.

I listened to a quick clip of Jeff. He reminds me a little of Dean Goss during his IUFB copy reads. I know it's not what LA the DJ meant, but he does have an 80s game show announcer style, like an 80s Top-40 or drive-time DJ who moonlighted as a game show announcer (Dean, Charlie Tuna).

However, I think it fits with the looser-structured TPiR of today. I don't think his style would've worked during the Johnny O. replacement auditions.

All in all, I liked him. He's not perfect, but I think with a little coaching, he could be a really good announcer.

Not sure if this is Brad's first episode to be aired, but today is the first day I'm hearing him. He sure does sound like he's using that Whose Line "game show host" voice a lot -- even when he's conversing with Drew.

BTW, it's so frustrating to watch someone play Ten Chances when they don't know "the catch."

Brad seemed to get better (imo) as the show went on - his CNAOS almost sounded normal - and his showcases were decent.  Wonder if someone told him to tone it down or he was more relaxed.

I like Brad's way of announcing better than I do of JD's and Jeff's.  For some reason, when listening to Brad announce, he sounded alot like another announcer but, for the life of me, can't think of who.  Anyway, he sounded great in my opinion.

It occurred to me a little while ago, who Brad Sherwood sounded like....Jim Thornton, when he auditioned in 2004.
