I think most everyone would have said Ty who???  To be fair, maybe if the host would have been disclosed at the time, everyone would have known that the show was not going to go forward, as Ty had sewn up the hosting gig on MGC.

It's not uncommon at all for a show to go to air under a different host than the one who did the pilot.

Pretty sure that Combination Lock's pilot was taped before MGC's, to be paired with The Joker's Wild.

Correct. The pilot (and subsequent bru-ha-ha) was fall 2006. MGC wasn't announced until early-2007.
