Just wanted to chime in that if you look at the Buzzerblog GSN schedule for the first week of August (you'll need Microsoft Word in order to view it), you'll find out that come August 6, Perry's Card Sharks in the early morning rotation will be going all the way back to episode #001.

Gee, it seems that now, GSN is only leasing for 200 episodes of a G-T show. Before March 2009, the way it worked was that for any G-T show on their schedule, they had the rights to almost all of the episodes (with some exceptions), and for fremantle shows that aren't G-T like Press Your Luck for example, they would lease for episodes in "add-on" packages. In that shows' case, at first they only had the rights to 200 episodes from February-November 1984, but that soon expanded, and from 2003-2009, they had the rights to 450 episodes (February 1984-November 1985).

No one to my knowledge brought this up before, but do you suppose the reason (or at least part of the reason) GSN decided not to renew 90% of the G-T library was due to the recent economic downturn?

Not the worst thing in the world--at least I get a second opportunity to record episode 2 the following early Tuesday.

My guess is that any G-T show that isn't Dawson FF or Match Game is just no longer a big priority for the network.

With their new direction, they are narrowing down the classics and just will go full stop with only the most popular ones.  Sad but true.
I'm a pacifist, and even I would like to see a little more action.

Whatever happened to that Hulu-esque site that Fremantle had in mind for their game shows?

Never happening, I guess.

That was nothing more than a theory on our part, and it's only been about a year and a half since we talked about it.  Fremantle will have their library for a long, long time.  Might be a bit premature to announce "never".
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Or they are going with what gets ratings, just like any other network.
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

I had begun to watch as a way to kill time before my friends got here, and I was shocked at how slow things were at the beginning. Not just that Jim explained each branch of the if-then tree, but it also feels like they were going slow anyway, as opposed to the machine-like pace that Jim put the show through after a while.
