Let me tell you that when Wheel moved to CBS, Marc Summers, Bob Eubanks, Chuck Henry and PAT FINN all auditioned for Wheel.  Bob Goen of course got the job and he had Game show experience But of course those game shows were short lived so Goen was a Trebek and What if Pat Finn got the job?

I follow everything except "Goen was a Trebek"
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.

That's the most likely interpretation, but to call someone "a Trebek" because he hasn't had a long-term hit is a pretty preposterous thing to say in 2010.

And honestly, pretty preposterous to say even in 1989 or '90, considering J! was on the air 5 or 6 years by that point.

/Goen is an underrated host though
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

By the time J! rolled around, Alex Trebek had a hit with High Rollers.  But his greater success was J!  Whilst, Bob Goen hosted a string of short-lived game shows.  Was it Merv's choice or CBS's choice?  He could have picked Pat Finn.

Yeah, that's about where it broke down for me, followed by the Pat Finn question that came outta nowhere.

The vast majority of us who feel that way therefore aren't surprised that CBS picked somebody else.

Although I think Rolf is a nice guy, I wonder if the show would have had to move to CBS at all if they picked someone else when Pat left.
