'Wipeout' gets a midseason callup
« on: October 13, 2010, 09:44:18 AM »
With none of their new shows working out and several of their veteran shows slipping in the ratings, ABC is calling on one of their summer hits to help them in the mid-season.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that The Alphabet has commissioned a special "Winter Wonderland" edition of "Wipeout", which will premiere in January and run for eight episodes...

Given that "The Bachelor" is entrenched between DWTS seasons on Mondays, it wouldn't surprise me to see Winter Wipeout air on Tuesdays (either in the current DWTS slot at 9p or, if "No Ordinary Family" continues to fall, at 8p) or Thursdays (in what was the "My Generation" slot).

The news tweet from THR led me to first believe that they were moving it outright from its summer slot. That would have been a mistake, since Wipeout is a proven summer ratings hit.

But now that I see it's a special winterized run, only two words come to mind -- Big Snowballs.

They already canceled My Generation?  Shows how much attention I pay to network TV.
