[quote name=\'Modor\' post=\'249422\' date=\'Oct 19 2010, 03:03 PM\']So, instead of five people watching, they have seven?
I was sitting in the audience, and people of all ages were laughing nonstop. I knew then we had a hit, and the ratings are verifying that.
A "hit"? The show isn't above a 2.5 yet, is it? Has it ever? Reruns of
Two and a Half Men and
Family Guy are hits.
Wheel of Fortune, at
number three is a hit.
Family Feud is not a hit.

Paints a somewhat different (if not just more detailed) picture of those numbers (and at least two other sites I found which also give much more similar ratings to B&C than that local site:
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/10/13/syndi...-jeopardy/67892The point is still valid though, going from a .1 to a .2 is a 100% increase, but your show is still being seen by almost nobody (too many people just DO NOT seem to get this). Not to mention that there are 90 million different factors that can have your ratings jump .1 or .2 either way or more from week to week (power outages in areas, upcoming elections and debates, weather related issues, sports, other program bumps, etc.). As such, that .1 or .2 decrease could just as easily be bumped the other way that next week.
People need to understand that a percentage change means only so much, the hardcore straight-forward numbers of people tuning in and out during a timeslot are your key, the rest I almost want to chalk up to spin tactics by advertisers to do something to positively promote their show. You could show 24 hours of Family Guy and simply sum up the 48 ratings for each half-hour (which it somewhat looks like that one site did) and get a number that you could say beats everything else, but if 90% of those episodes got like a .5, it doesn't matter what your final total was, your eyeball count sucked. You could replace any of those .5's with a show like J!, WOF, and the chances are it'd get more eyeballs for that timeslot and, in the end, was a better eyeball drawer and programming decision.
EDIT: Anddd Mr. Ottinger summed up it very nicely it looks too.
