Although, in her defense, she does make a pretty good foil for Stephen Fry on QI.

/then there was that Christmas episode where she tried to trigger the sirens for every question during General Ignorance...

I think the solo game was still during the $10K era.
Over two years before. It was apparently on June 27, 1975 (with Lee Meriwether, seen during the clip) after Shatner failed to win any front games that whole week. I don't know what the first box was (a single word) or how he managed to waste 40 seconds, but it's fun to see the trilons spinning around long before $100,000 did it for tournament wins.
No, Shatner did not waste 40 seconds, because the producer gave him only 30 seconds in that solo W/C round.  He did his two final episodes as a guest for the fifth and last season ('78-'79) of the Cullen show, with all production wrapped up by the end of June '78.   After that, no more Shatner on Pyramid ever again.

George Peppard on "Password Plus".  The infamous rant, which can be seen on youtube.

Little Richard as a celebrity player on Wheel.  Start of the round, spins $5,000, and he guesses "X".

Bill Daily's schtick, while not necessarily obnoxious, was very tiresome and irritating very fast.  He was rather dreadful on Match Game, and he once changed a Queen on Card Sharks to an 8, yet he still won the game somehow.  He just seemed like an idiotic clown who always tried to force himself to be funny, and he seldom if ever was.  That schtick worked on "I Dream of Jeannie", but not in the world of game shows.

Henry Morgan once was very rude to Bennett Cerf.  Bennett was in the middle of telling a story while in the process of introducing John Daly, the host, and Morgan made some kind of a rude comment about getting the game started already.  Daly handled it well, coming to Cerf's defense in his very eloquent, gentlemanly way.  Truly a class act.

Waylen & Madame were indeed obnoxious.  I never much cared for puppets on game shows though, or ever for that matter.  Part of me also hated that they were in the center square, taking Paul Lynde's place.  Squares would probably lasted another 10 years at least if Lynde had stuck around, he WAS that show!

Arte Johnson was another borderline obnoxious celeb.  He was okay on "Laugh-In", but not so much so in the game show world.

Watching a video.  Little Richard and James Brown are a team.  They're the only team; the others are solo players.

Rayburn seemed to get a kick out of Daily. He was hard to watch as a regular, but I liked a little of him once in a while. He was terrific on Bob Newhart. And when they were playing for the big money, his answers were fine.

Waylon & Madame didn't replace Lynde, at least not all the time.

Worst Hollywood Square, Bergeron Era: Joshua Molina from TV's "Sports Night" and "West Wing." He never caught on that it they were shooting for comedy (sort of the problem on "Sports Night") nor that he could bluff.

George Peppard on "Password Plus".  The infamous rant, which can be seen on youtube.

I believe Peppard was the only celeb on PW+ to be seen smoking on the set. Seems he still had a cigarette on him at one point after coming back from commercial and he didn't have time to get rid of it. Ludden takes a break immediately after Peppard's rant... obviously the producers wanted to discuss whether to leave the rant in the broadcast. Obviously it was left in, but Ludden made him explain WHY he was upset. Allen also gave George a bit of a dirty look after the rant, and was noticeably upset he caused such a riff on an innocent game show.

He did give some boneheaded answers, but usually came through when it was important. He knew "Cuckoo Friend and Ollie" was ridiculous enough, judging by that he nearly fell out of his chair laughing when he heard it.

This was discussed before... apparently Morgan and Cerf disliked each other (from what I've heard few if any actually LIKED Henry Morgan... they tolerated him at best) and some of that was seen at that moment. John Daly also apparently didn't care much for Dorothy Kilgallen either, which would explain why he tended to give her the hardest time when she asked a question which was difficult to answer yes or no. Of all the panelists though, she was truly there to play the game and played to win, and would get quite upset sometimes if she failed to guess an occupation or mystery guest.

The first box, based on a quick glimpse when the boxes all spin about after its over was "Rain Wear."

The one person I can't stand is Shelley Smith on "Pyramid". She seems to be very full of herself and almost too serious.

i.e Whenever Dick gave her the option to give or recieve in the final two categories, she

1. Always wanted to give
2. Told that she wanted to give berfore Dick even verbally gave the option.

Her voice also dripped of arrogance, and it came from a C or D list actress

Tony Danza on the 1983 $25,000 Pyramid episode where he swears and walks off the set. I don't think he was ever invited back after that.

Nope...and his little swearfest (over blowing the Mystery 7 for his partner) was just the tip of the iceberg, at least on that Friday episode, which also saw Danza:

- Complaining about why opponent Melody Thomas got to pick first
- Showboating when he won a game
- Tipping over and picking up his chair after wining in the WC
- Declare "My name better be there!" when a category came up concerning famous celebs who played Pyramid (and it wasn't even his turn, mind you)

Needless to say, despite Dick telling him to "please come back" at episode's end, that was Danza's last hurrah for Pyramid.

And besides Danza's aforementioned Pyramid antics, I'd also cast my vote for some other celebs mentioned, as well as a couple who weren't:

- Paula Poundstone on TTTT (would it have killed her to take the game seriously?)
- Bill Daily on the Perry CS celeb tourney
- Judy Tenuta on MG '98
- William Shatner on Pyramid (who exhibited similar behavior during a week of Narz BtC a few years earlier)
- Naomi Judd's 1998 appearance on a one-off Celeb J! (highlights include her asking opponent Jane Curtin "who's the ignorant slut now?")
- Lonnie Shorr on BtB '76 (he was known to throw a fit if a blank or moneybag came up when it was supposed to be his turn)

Gary Burghoff on Match Game. He seemed to be trying too hard to be hilariously funny ALL OF THE TIME... to the point of obnoxiousness.

Yeah, I recall someone on the old JumpTheShark.com saying he "reminded me of that kid in school who tried so hard to be the class clown, while the REAL clown was down in the principal's office".
