I thought of Randy Thomas when I saw this. I could imagine her doing a great job with "Wheel" (she did do a good job on "Lingo"!).

/though there's another Randy I'd rather hear!
She wasn't that good on "Lingo" IMO.  Vanna's done the voiceover before, IIRC.  They could bring back Susan Stafford, I guess.  Without more hints, there a risk of overthinking.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I swear I made a comment somewhere here (maybe it was buzzerblog I said it, my mind must be getting feeble), but my ultimate preference has been for Pat and Vanna to do the announcing work for the rest of their tenure on the show. They already do a lot of it anyway, especially on the road, so it makes sense, they both have experience and it will ultimately save the show money likely with having one less body in the studio every show...

/Still think it's somewhat a longshot. I'd love to be surprised.

(As an aside, Rich Fields sounded very mellow on tonight's show, but I believe he was dubbed in.)
Why would he be dubbed in, he asked, knowing he was going to get a dumb answer.

(And yes, panel, I too heard Pat say at the beginning of the show , "Thanks Rich - Rich Fields, our guest announcer", but I still want to hear this.)
Same reason Gilbert was dubbed in for the last Vegas week, presumably. This week was taped in October.

If you are Sony, a multinational for-profit corporation that likely expects your various entities to show improvements, in one form or another, each fiscal year, you ALWAYS "need" to save money.

Yeah, I wouldn't give two s***s about it if I was Friedman and Sony was expecting me to improve the bottom line every year, but that's why I'm not likely to be the show's E.P. anytime soon. No, it doesn't matter last time I saw figures for how much the show makes a year (which was some time ago), the figure was around $200,000,000...

Not saying you're wrong, but is Vanna really neccessary?  They could save her yearly salary by just having the techs light up the board, but they ain't gonna do that.  I watched the show tonight.  Any announcing needs they have can be (and probably are) done in post production.

My money's on The Weasel.  It's a good thing I'm a teacher who makes virtually no money. :-)

The one thing I'll give Wheel...for all the gimmicks they've trotted out, they still have a lot of traditional elements, such as keeping an announcer. I don't see them cutting a corner like that, esp. considering the way they made Charlie a part of the family, i.e. last year's April Fool's stunt. They'd probably reduce the road trips first.

Besides, if they're considering not having a true announcer, then why have Rich Fields come in?

John Cramer maybe? He's done a few other Sony shows, including Donnymid, which Harry produced...

I hope you're kidding.

WOF is hardly a struggling operation. It rakes in money hand over fist (how do you think they can afford all that travel?). There's no need to scrimp on something like an announcer. A game show announcer isn't a huge expense, unlike emcees who make multi-millions per year.

Not talking permanent, just speculating (in fun) about what Sajak meant when he said one of the guest announcer choices would "make history".

Well, Merv used to announce on his talk show once Arthur Treacher kicked the bucket, and made no secret of it with his "and now, HERE I COME!" intro.
