Impressive for a first year rookie host, without a doubt

Richard Dawson was a rookie, too, when he got FF.

X!X!X! Three automatic strikes! Dawson was host of the 1974 edition of Masquerade Party; and years prior to that, hosted Lucky Pair.

Cordially,

I don't particularly care for Steve Harvey as a comedian, but I caught the show today and saw his hosting for the first time. I was pretty impressed with how good of a job he did! His comments after contestants' answers were relevant and weren't nearly as annoying as Karn's, and he was able to keep the game moving and appeared to be genuinely having a good time.

My local affiliate, on the other hand, aired a clip of Harvey standing on the FF set "reminding us" that we can hear him on a local morning radio talk show at least three times between commercials during the last 10 minutes of the broadcast.

I'd love the chance to judge Harvey's work for myself aside from the various YouTube clips... nobody runs it in the Knoxville market.

I'd wager if you have Lyrics, just hang on. They'll probably replace it with FF

You can tell there are many instances when Steve catches himself from saying the FIRST thing that pops into his head after hearing a certain answer -- things that are only OK on pay cable.

But I like his approach. We've long passed the days of the "professional game show host" but Steve takes the right amount of time to ad-lib without crushing the flow of game play.

IMHO, Steve is the best host the modern-day Feud has had.  He's fun to watch, with just the right amount of comedy and personality.  He carries the game along beautifully.

Since Dawson wasn't a rookie, Combs was though. Harvey isn't a rookie, he's done a couple of shows aside from sitcoms.
