I wouldn't call it completely disasterous, but I would be a little concerned.

from PIFeedback.com

6.95 million viewers, 1.9/5 in the 18-49's. It was 4th in the timeslot (NCIS had 11.82 million viewers for a rerun, Glee had 11.02 million for a new episode, and A Charlie Brown Christmas had 8.03 million)- one slight piece of good news is that they had about 500K more viewers than the last ep on 9/14.

Next week might be a wash competition-wise- Glee is in reruns until their post-Super Bowl episode, but NCIS has a new episode, and ABC has one of the newer Charlie Brown specials...

Our prayers will be with the Fieri family this holiday season.

The thing that bothered me the most about this episode in particular, besides all the other reasons to completely loathe it, were that they appended the two ludicrous money amounts on the top (11 for $2m, 12 for $3m) and the way that they handled the bonus gifts.

If I was going to add stuff like extra lives, bonus time and that sort of thing, I would allow the contestants to play for the various bonus items in exchange for the money amount at that particular level. Or have an extra quick game where you wouldn't lose progress in the main game if you failed. Something other than "Here's what we hope is the impetus for you to risk absurd amounts of money to chase a pipe dream!"

Well, at least Levels 10, 11 and 12 are all bankable. So you have essentially free shots at winning $2 Mil and $3 Mil. As for the gifts, I didn't mind the way they handled them. Money AND a bonus, versus giving up money for a bonus gift? I like both, please :)

Right, but I don't think that's quite as interesting. If you made the $10,000 and $125,000 games the "bonus" rounds, and gave your players the option, I think that makes the decision interesting. "Here! Have an extra life! How about some more time!" Blech.

That would be interesting. Seeing is that the next level after each is a safe level, give me those lives then!

By which the option is playing for the extra gadget or the money for that rung. You wouldn't get $10k and the help.

I know some versions of "Millionaire" allow you to remove your second safe haven, in exchange for a 4th lifeline. MTWI could easily implement that.

But they don't.

No, no, no, not game show. "Competition series".
