I know the trend is to hire comedians as hosts*, but Chuck was only what, 3 years removed from the show? I wonder if he's retired or if GSN thinks he's too "old"?
My first thought is that on a channel dominated by reruns, including absurdly frequent Lingo reruns, seeing a new guy at the helm immediately tells you this is a new version.

The original "No Lingo" bonus round ruled.  The $64,000 win that circulates is among the most exciting things I've ever seen on a game show, tempered only a little by the knowledge that the couple never got their money.

Also, I get to be the first person in the thread to say it:  Please bring back Shandi.
I agree about Shandi. Wonder why the $64,000 couple never got their money. Another reason for possibly not using Chuck is that Bill Engvall probably doesn't command as high a salary.

If that is the case they should dow what Mark Goodson & NBC did in '84 and call it something like 'Super Lingo' even if the changes in game play are minimal.

I know you keed, but a slight title change is not a bad idea. I was simply thinking "The (All-)New Lingo". It's been a while since there's been a revival to call itself "The New" something. ;-)

And now I'll make you un-forget Temptation, all though I think its "new" billing was unofficial.

Nah, They are saving that title for when Bill Engvall hosts "Here's Your Sign: The All-New 'Bumper Stumpers'".

You know what meme hadn't been dead long enough? Old game show colon the new wacky subtitle. I miss that.

(Good grief.)

Who was it that came up with the idea of "Deuces!  The All-New Card Sharks"  I remember reading about that on the forum celebrating Bob Eubanks' 73rd birthday.

I think I would be a good idea to add a couple of things, but still keep the essence of the game...

For example, the current Netherlands version has these additions I'd use:

-A jackpot in the front game. There are three green balls in each teams bowl, drawing one means they pick again. Get all three, they win a bonus of €100 times the number of regulation words solved in the game- and it then resets so the other team can win it (which has happened- doesn't count towards the score).

-10-letter words. After every couple of regular words, they show the teams a scrambled 10-letter word and then unscramble 3 letters. Every few seconds another letter is put into it's proper space, and a team can buzz in. If correct, the team gets €10 per letter still incorrectly placed.

-A silver ball in the bonus round. If they draw this, they have the option of ending the bonus round early and winning half the bonus round jackpot.

they have other differences:

a team can try to steal an opposing word at anytime. A correct answer doubles the score, a incorrect one halves their score.

The bonus round jackpot is now €1000 per word completed in the bonus round itself. It's cut the payoffs down a lot from before- it was a straight €5000 for a Lingo, or €7500 for a diagonal Lingo- since they play with 6- or 7- letter words. Most teams usually get 2-4 words in the bonus.
