Not that I'd ever do something that goofy, but if I did, I'm comfortable enough with my above-average math skills that I wouldn't consider there to be an "equal possibility" that I'd make a wagering mistake later because of a weird score.  I mean, I don't know for certain that the guy beside me isn't a whiz himself, but I'd be comfortable thinking that I'm not going to screw it up, and he might.
Fair enough, but I think you're showing a lack of respect for your opponents when you say that.
Jeopardy! mental trickery can be a quite profitable strategy.
Well done, you found a picture of Chuck Forrest. So what?

Cut "had". Replace with "made". Ta-da.
But he didn't, and instead you had to explain that. What does that say about him?

There are plenty of people I know who are gobsmacked that I can calculate a tip in my head. And when I demonstrate that you just move the decimal point one integer to the left, and then add half of that, they scratch their head. I am called upon in the office to check on calculations because I have a head for that sort of thing, and for many of those people (who are terribly intelligent and talented in other areas) they're just not good at math.

I see you're still fighting other people's "battles" uninvited.

/Say, catch the latest episode of Studs that was recently posted? It was great.

Didn't Chuck say that it was a deliberate strategy to jump around the board to keep his opponents from knowing where he was going to go next?

And since he won $72,800 in regular play, I'd say it worked out well for him. (He could have reached the $75,000 limit, except he was 2x his nearer competitor going into final, and stayed on $12,800.)
