"Family Feud" moving to Atlanta?
« on: May 11, 2011, 09:49:05 AM »
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that "Family Feud" will leave Universal Studios Orlando after one season, and likely tape this upcoming season in Atlanta, where Steve Harvey has a home and hosts his nationally-syndicated radio show...

http://blogs.orlando...-this-week.html

Atlanta has become a bit of a hotbed for TV and film in recent years.  No word on where "Feud" will tape, but Tyler Perry has a studio complex in the area, as does EUE/Screen Gems.  In addition, Nancy Grace tapes her "Swift Justice" series at Georgia Public Broadcasting studios in Atlanta, while BET taped its short-lived "Pay It Off" game show at Turner Broadcasting's Techwood studios in Midtown.

The official Feud twitter feed posted a couple days ago that taping indeed will be moving to Atlanta beginning in July. If the show tapes on weekends like they did in Orlando, it might actually be feasible for me to attend one now and then since I'm only a three hour drive away.

You forgot, "From the fabulous, luxurious, Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta....."- the show intro alone could take 16 minutes.
Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

If that happens, will the fabulous Tyler Perry have a special episode where the Browns play?  As in
Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns

Apparently none of the above.  The show will be taping at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center (for a 150 episode season as opposed to last year's 165).

"Filming" has taken on the same meaning as "Recording" I guess.  Unless they're switching to film.  Technically, they are not taping, either.

That is a bit of an odd place to base a TV show.  It's a 4600-seat auditorium in a part of downtown Atlanta that yours truly (who's lived in the Atlanta area for the last six years) would not consider tourist-friendly.  However, J! did hold its Tournament of Champions there in 2000.

The center is owned and run by the city, so it wouldn't surprise me if the city adds "Feud" tapings to the list of "must-see" tourist attractions in Atlanta.
