The Onion AV Club has a regular column called "A Very Special Episode", in which writer Noel Murray looks at individual episodes of various TV shows and writes about their place in TV, broadcast, and American history. The 4th "Season" starts tomorrow with an article called "Celebrity Hot Potato, 6/29/84", which I'm sure will be of interest to this board. Will he be looking at the "celebritizing" of game shows, the career of Bill Cullen, or just game shows in general? (Sometimes a specific episode is chosen because is is the only existing episode he has to work with. His "
Tonight Show" article, for instance. I hope it hasn't been pulled from YouTube in the meantime.)
I've been waiting for this one for a couple of weeks, and it finally posts tomorrow. AV Club usually updates right after midnight, so let's check it out together, either at
AV Club or at the page for the
A Very Special Episode series.
