"Winning Streak" Theme
« on: September 06, 2011, 12:20:43 AM »
I remember hearing somewhere that the "Winning Streak" theme, much like the "Pass The Buck" and the '70s "Jackpot" theme, was a piece of stock (production) music. Is there any validity to this?

I'm sure it was.   I have heard it recycled post-Winning Streak in both NBC's pregame show for the 1975 World Series and also almost the entire piece in a WSBK Boston highlights special on the 1978 season.

I also heard part of this theme on a record album devoted to the 1975-76 Cleveland Cavaliers "Miracle of Richfield" season.  It was played during Joe Tait's description of one of the Eastern Conference Final games against the Boston Celtics (before and after the play-by-play highlight from that game).

Wow! I never knew that the theme made that many appearances outside of the show. Now for my next question, would anyone happen to know the title of this piece of stock music? If I had to take a guess (based on where Bob Stewart got the Pass The Buck and Jackpot themes) I'd say that it's a piece from the KPM library.
