A new car on Pyramid's Christmas episodes as a Mystery 7 prize? Wow!

That's one Christmas gift you can't pass up on!

That's just as good as winning $1100 on a 7-11, $5K for the tie-breaker, and $10K/$25K.

Unless of course you needed a car but didn't want a less-than-stellar 80s econobox, which is often what cars were given away in the M7(though the $100K gave away a $10K Pontiac Fiero, the econobox of sports cars, on a couple occasions)

On the other hand, if you were like me, and just lost your source of transportation, you'd take the free car (+ taxes), econobox or not.

On New Year's Eve '82, the CBS Pyramid offered a car for the Mystery 7, but the team missed by one, causing a very loud groan from the audience.
Oh, that sucked. They missed by ONE. Just ONE. Oh, the agony. I probably would've kicked myself.

I recall a similar situation in Dave Wagner's TV GS Contestant Guidebook...Billy Crystal was giving clues for a Mystery 7 that offered a Greek cruise. As in the situation described further up, they didn't get it...and Crystal felt so bad, he paid for the contestant to go on the trip w/his own money.

I snipped all the quotes for sanity's sake, but since the original comparison was basically "as good as winning over $30,000", I think I'd rather take the cash and buy myself a car.

I recall on the Christmas PYL shows that they offered a Christmas Tree worth $541. Was it ever won?

Also, I gotta admit, when I saw the "12 Games" episode of Body Language (which I HAVE added to the list), I got a good laugh out of Richard Simmons's Candy-Cane colored shorts. Pretty neat, I should say, huh?

Looks like Pyramid is doing at least one Holiday show this year(the promo had snowflakes decorating the set). According to my Time Warner cable box listings, new episodes are scheduled all week long(though no celeb. names appear in the listings)

Saw the promos for Pyramid's holiday week.

Saw snowflakes, and some poinsettias and candles, and even Donny Osmond managed to sing some Christmas carols.

So, I was right about the 2002 Pyramid airing on Christmas.

OK, I thought about it, and decided that Blockbusters should go on the list.

Who could remember the board being used as a "tree", when Bill mentioned that the set couldn't be decorated in time for Christmas?

That was for Xmas 1980, did they have decorations for Xmas 1981(since it's quite possible GSN will axe Blockbusters on weekends before they get through 1981). I didn't see much of Blockbusters in its original Cullen run(KYW in Philly didn't air it at all, and WTAF CHannel 29(now Fox WTXF) aired a couple of months of it and LV Gambit in 1981). WMGM CHannel 40(NBC in the Atlantic City area) was still not programming pre-Noon until mid-1982.

So, they managed to put decorations on the set, like CS '78 did? That's good.

Speaking of Christmas on CS '78, I found out that G2-T2 was dressed as Santa Claus. Pretty neat, huh?

And, one of the funniest Christmas-related survey questions came from the "12 Games" episode, and it was:

"As a child, did you ever unwrapped your Christmas gifts, and then re-wrapped them, so that your parents wouldn't know that YOU opened them?"

That got a pretty good laugh out of everyone! I laughed so hard the moment he finished reading the question!

The Christmas ep should be airing today (12/24), since both Steve Schirippa and Debra Jo Rupp can clearly be seen in the brief clip of Donny singing during the promo.
