Pitfall: did a player ever fall off the elevator?

I'm probably giving way too much credit here, but:

In the Pitfall paragraph, the writer mentions an episode where someone fell off the elevator. Is there anything to that? I'm willing to bet there isn't, but it's almost 2am and my curiosity kills me.

I think you are giving too much credit...wasn't there an enclosure on the bottom of the bridge, which you would have started to see as you went down? I would figure that if that happened there would've been a major issue.

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

They were pushed.  For giving an incredibly wrong answer.

An aside unrelated to the Pitfall element: I am really tired of snark being used as whitewash to cover up journalism skills like sourcing what you write and being able to string together a coherent thought. The snark tone was palpable all the way through the piece, and the writing suffered greatly for it.

I wouldn't go to pajiba.com and expect "journalism skills".

It was a stupid throwaway piece designed to be humorous and it moderately accomplished that goal.

/Then I threw it away.
