The second NBC "Match Game" theme
« on: June 21, 2012, 05:37:33 AM »
Seems like I remember somebody mentioning it here, in recent months ... but I can't seem to locate the topic now.

I just found the theme in the Vault at TVPMM.  It's hidden with the Game Show Marathon's Match Game music package.  I don't remember them using it during the GSM.  Check cuts 2 through 5.

Never thought I'd hear it again, but there it is!

Is there a link to it somewhere?

Nope.  Everything at TVPMM is behind a paywall.

Where on Earth did they find THAT? Score Productions/Bob Israel is the only source I can think of for it.

Remembering back four and a half decades, that sure seems like the second MG theme, an early Charles Fox composition.

I knew when I heard that at TVPMM a while back it seemed familiar, but I couldn't place it. (I've seen an episode of Match Game using that music at the Paley Center in Los Angeles, but it's been several years.)

Is it just me, or does it sound very stylistically similar to the theme from the last year of the original run of To Tell the Truth?

I just bought a membership to the Vault, but every time I try to go to the page where I put in my e-mail to get my password, the page only stays on for a split second and won't let me do it.  I didn't know I'd have to copy it down since they only showed me one page with it and the e-mail they sent only shows ******** where the password is supposed to be.

Why complain here when there is a contact link on the TVPMM's main page?  Heck, here's a direct link to the contact page:  http://tvpmm.com/contact/contact.html  You're welcome.

Did you try checking the details portion of this transaction in your PayPal account? That's where I usually check to find my password if I don't remember it.

I think he's talking about the theme the original TTTT switched to in 1968.

I definitely hear the similarity.
Me: Of all of the game shows you've hosted besides Jeopardy!, like High Rollers or Classic Concentration, which is your favorite?
Alex Trebek: I'd have to say To Tell The Truth, because it was the first time in my career that I got to sit down while I was hosting.

Yes, that's the one I meant.
