TV Guide: Nobody asked him to "Come on down!"

From TV Guide:

Quote
"But I do know I am ashamed of the show and surprised at their complete disregard for the welfare of animals. Were I still there, a prize to attend the Calgary Stampede would never have been considered. We never did anything that condoned animal cruelty. Apparently, things have changed."

I'm sure the models would agree.

Thanks to Curt and Chris; I needed a laugh, and I got two of 'em.

Was Barker talking to a chair when he said that?

Of course Daddy wasn't asked. He might've said "yes". I sure wish Betty White had been on, though. That'd be a nice chop in his sack.
Besides, he might have found out the big event wasn't 100% about him, waited for an exit line cue and left at mid-show.

There's a good Chuck Norris joke somewhere in there.

There are a hundred justified reasons for not giving Barker a call about being part of the show, but considering that anniversary shows only come once every five years, I would have given him a spot to host a classic pricing game or take part in one of the showcases. He doesn't have too many more years left where he could be trotted out with some dignity (and some would contest that), but if he's looking for a spot on an anniversary show, I'd make some room for him. Couldn't hurt the ratings to promo the show as having a Bob appearance, either.
Fact To Make You Feel Old: Just about every contestant who appears in a Price is Right Teen Week episode from here on out has only known a world where Drew Carey has been the host.

  • Just leave the set; that’d be terrific.

When he's publicly bagging on the show, why should they extend that courtesy?

If you were to leave your position at your current employer, you wouldn't get to dictate what they do down the road, right?

I would have told George Gray not to refer to the Bob Barker Studio; just call it Television City.

Ate? He still gets residuals from the show as long as he doesn't talk crap about it. I bet the resulting backpedalling is a result of the money no longer making it to Casa De WGMC.

Well, since it's contractual, I'm guessing he gets them even if he does talk crap about it.

Imo, a slap in Bob's face is when furs get to be prizes again. Until then, I'll just have a a hot dog, with all the fixins looking over the Marineland pool in my amazing crocodile shoes :) Sure hot dogs don't come from animals, right? ;) Go Willy go!

I don't see that happening anytime soon (the fur coats). Not so much to do with Barker (or maybe so), but they have become taboo over the years...
