GSN 100k Pyramid Question
« on: November 28, 2012, 09:32:09 PM »
Are these episodes currently airing after PYL "new to GSN?"
Enjoy lots and lots of backstage TPIR photos and other fun stuff here. And yes, I did park in Syd Vinnedge's parking spot at CBS

Hasn't GSN aired the entire run in the past?  I saw an ep. with Heather Davis a few weeks back, and I know GSN has aired her eps. ad nauseum.

Last I checked (I haven't watched the 10:00 AM run in some time), both airings are somewhere in the second season.  The noon run is in between the 6th and 7th tournaments (they just aired the Vicki Lawrence storms off the set week), while the 10:00 AM run was about a tournament behind.

GSN was running the third season before Labor Day, when they switched to the second season, and it's been years since they've run the first season.

Last I checked, the 10:30 AM $25K run should be in early 1987, while the 12:30 run is in August 1986, having aired the 1000th episode complete with cake, and Dick making an unfortunate comment about Vicki Lawrence's outfit, very recently.

I wanna say yes, and that they've run each of the three seasons into the ground at various times. They were stuck on 1986-87 for quite awhile...

ETA: Based on Ted's post, looks like they're still stuck in 1986-87. :-P

I wouldn't mind being stuck in 1986 or '87: there were some great game shows back then.

I think about that from time to time. You had a nice little mix between daytime, syndication, and even a handful on cable (both new and reruns). A great time indeed!

I'd argue TV as a whole was much better with just 3-1/2 networks, and 50 or so cable channels. It presented a lot more variety and not 500 channels of the same-ol, same-ol, and pop-ups/squeezed credits/etc. But hey, that's just me going on one of my rants that inevitably ends with me throwing some snot-nosed punks off my lawn.

What were we talking about again? ;-P

With regards to $100K, the first season episodes from 1985-86 haven't been seen on the network in over a decade. For the entire time I've had they channel (since mid 2001), they've been alternating between the second and third seasons. Occasionally they get all wild and crazy and show both at once, though that's not particularly common.

First time through these $25K episodes, as far as I know. I only ever recall them previously airing 1982-83, 1985-86, and 1987-88.

Minor nitpick: The first season hasn't been part of the daily schedule in that time. However, there have been two separate marathons on New Year's Ever (2003 and I think 2008) that included some first-season shows.

Did they ever run first-season shows during Pyramid Thursday?

You mean when The Pyramid aired after American Bible Challenge? Or the classic Pyramid like we're discussing here
Old-school Pyramid.

To answer Steve's question, for some reason, my fuzzy memory is telling me they aired tournament episodes from various seasons.

I was thinking Pyramid Thursday referred to the Vertivision blocks that aired around 2003.  I have no idea what $25K episodes aired then.

That's what I was thinking too (summer '02 to be exact), but from what I remember, it was $10K at 8, 20K at 8:30, 25K at 9, then 100K at 9:30.

IIRC, the 25K was first season episodes.

The handful of those blocks I have on tape have 25K episodes from the late 1987/early 1988 timeframe.  I remember the soap star tournament airing in there for sure.

And to chime in on the original poster's question, there are no "new to GSN" 100K episodes.  The entire series has aired at one point or another.  The 25K episodes airing now have only aired one other time on the network.  The 10:30AM eastern shows were in the Friday night block a few months ago, while the 12:30PM episodes ran at 10:30 a few months ago.  There should still be a couple weeks' worth at the end of the current lease that haven't aired on GSN yet.
