New Year's Rockin Eve -- Dick Clark Tributes

Watching bits & pieces of the New Year's Rockin Eve "Pre-Game" so far tonight, and kudos to ABC for the tribute they are doing for Dick Clark so far -- lots of old American Bandstand clips, even saw a clip or two of (CBS) Pyramid.

This NYRE tribute is already more than what I had imagined. And the night is still young (at least west of the Rockies).

The one Dick Clark clip that put me away...
Dick Clark in a blue dress. Maybe you saw the gag a mile away, but it's still funny!

Loved that.  Also good to see Pyramid when they got to it (and a clip with Betty to boot!).  I understand that the focus would be on Bandstand and music, though, which was OK.
I'm a pacifist, and even I would like to see a little more action.

my complaint was with Fergie's introductions.  Could she have made it anymore about her with her posing and her enunciations?

No, but part of why they hired her in the first place is for her to pose enticingly in a tight dress.

(This is why she gets the crappy pretaped studio show and not any of the actual live important crap.)

I will further point out that this is the same gig that at one time was entrusted to Anson Williams.

(Except he didn't look nearly as good in the dress.)

Of course Ryan should get the honors of counting down the ball, but after 40 years it was awkward not to hear those deep, famous tones of Dick Clark.

Ryan did a great job hosting last night's festivities.  Dick would be proud for sure.
