I'd have to go with:

Bill Cullen, Tom Kennedy, Bob Barker, and Mark Goodson

Honorable mentions: Marc Summers, Gene Rayburn, Allen Ludden, JD Roth (a personal fave), Gene Wood, and Rod Roddy

The countdown to 100 ended awhile ago, why are you still here?

1. Rod Roddy
2. Johnny Olson
3. Charlie O'Donnell
4. Johnny Gilbert

I think we've all been going for hosts; if that's the case, Chucky Baby doesn't get on there.

Remember The Gong Show?

Erm...I don't think I would rank Barris up with Barker/Trebeck/et al. as a host because of his work on the Gong Show. Could you see him hosting any other show than that?

Could Gong Show be considered a game show anyway?  Isn't it just an early version of American Idol, a reality show?

Now, if you were doing a producer Mt. Rushmore...

Mark Goodson
Merrill Heater
Chuck Barris

OK, who's your fourth?
Michael Davies (for Millionaire?)
Monty Hall?
Merv Griffin?

And the big question - if this were built, would ProfSteve call it a gameument? [/quote]
Bob Stewart probably deserves to be on there, as he has created four shows that endured or have endured for decades: Pyramid, Password, the original TPIR, and TTTT

If you wanna make an argument sufficient to convince us that there aren't four guys who deserve it more, we're listening. Personally I wouldn't even put him ahead of Jim Peck. Barker, Cullen, Ludden, Trebek, and Kennedy all beat him ably and convincingly. I'd even put Tomarken ahead of him simply because I enjoy watching him more.

It is their OPINION.  You are more than welcome to make an argument stating your top 4; but instead; all you have done is rave about other peoples selections.

NBC apparently could see him hosting something else, as Chuckie Baby, along with future USA Up All Night hostess Rhonda SHear, hosted a pilot c. 1986 for NBC called Comedy COurtroom.

Cullen, Barker, Martindale and Bob Eubanks.

Eubanks deserves to be on there mainly because his Pez royalties are running out.
