Jim Perry's supposed planned comeback

Jim Perry retired from the TV industry after the final tapings of $ale of the Century here in the U.S.A. and Definition in Canada in 1989, and never worked in television again.

 

However, it seemed, at least for a moment, that he was planning a comeback, four years later, in 1993. While visiting the cool Game Show Tickets album on TVPMM\'s Facebook, I came upon a ticket to a taping of an unsold pilot called Lottery Cash Explosion.

I think there\'s a difference between \"never worked again\" and \"retired\".  I may be wrong, but I don\'t remember Jim Perry saying in 1989 or 1990 that he\'s decided to retire from television.  Maybe he didn\'t try as hard, or maybe things didn\'t break his way, and maybe years later he decided to tell everybody he retired in 1989 because it sounded better than \"I couldn\'t get work\".  Since your evidence suggests that he was perfectly willing to work, I don\'t think \"retired\" is the right choice of words.

Interestingly enough, for years, I thought the guy in the New York Carpet World ads was Jim...

Jim did do a few infomercials in the mid-to-late 90s. I definitely remember seeing him pitching some kind of sleep aid on late-night TV around \'96 or so.

The man you are referring to is Irving Nusbaum.
