Another million dollar question next week...celeb style.
« on: November 15, 2013, 10:16:37 PM »
I didn\'t see this on their Facebook page yet but Millionaire is tweeting that next week that former Whose Line star, current Nashville star, and multi-time former contestant before he was a star Charles \"don\'t call me Chip\"* Esten will be playing for charity at some point.

They mention that he\'s going to be the second contestant this year to face the million dollar question...how long has it been since a celeb player got that high up?

(*as I editorialize. Don\'t mind me)

Should this not be something covered under a spoiler header?

Didn\'t say when, so I don\'t think so.

But it certainly is obvious that unless you\'re lying (and you have no reason to) that we are certainly clued into what will likely happen during his game.

Unless next week is Chip Esten Week on Millionaire and he\'s playing every game Monday thru Friday, it will be kind of hard to not know when.

Sarcasm noted.

Point still stands. They never specified when, only that it\'s going to happen.

Unless next week is Chip Esten Week

Really, when you get down to it, every week should be Chip Esten Week.

\"Chip Esten is going to see the million dollar question when he plays Millionare next week\" is not a spoiler.

\"Chip Esten is going to see the million dollar question when he plays Millionaire next Wednesday\" IS a spoiler.

Just making sure that\'s the rule.  \'Cause that sounds like a new rule.

/I have no idea whether it\'s Wednesday or not.

//Also don\'t lose sleep over spoilers

While the Millionaire Twitter feed didn\'t mention the episode date(s) (at least, it hasn\'t yet), the Millionaire website does.

(Count me as one who\'d rather be surprised.  I\'m remembering the original airing of the first Michael Larson PYL episode, with the freeze frame and the sudden appearance of the superimposed Tomarken.  That was a hoot and a half. Then again, I\'m old.)

Whereas I myself remember watching the John Carpenter episode, and had a feeling he was going all the way, just off the way he breezed through everything. I know people argued (myself included) that he had an easy stack, but it was still a thing of beauty to watch, and I remember being shocked when he won. Hard to believe it\'ll be 14 years since that episode aired...I think it was 11/19/99*.

Millionaire is usually pretty good about not spoiling too much. They\'ll drop hints here and there, but they\'re still not nearly as bad as Deal or No Deal was.

*Funny thing is, Spin City kinda \"spoiled\" what a million dollar win would look like. The episode that aired the week of John Carpenter\'s had Paul\'s character win the big money on the show.

I thought I was the only person to feel \"spoiled\" on what the million dollar win would look like because of that.

You may have been one of the very few that were shocked by Carpenter\'s win...I very strongly suspect that, before any of the four answer choices were revealed on his millon dollar question, a massive number of people shouted \"NIXON\" at thei television screens...it was far from being an obscure TV factoid...

Oooops...sorry...SPOILER ALERT!!!  Am I too late? :)

The $500,000 question was simultaneously impenetrable and answerable if you were a specialist. For the $1 million question I don\'t think I\'ve ever been that rapt watching; it was certainly the most fun I\'ve had watching a celebrity game.
