The show would move to the familiar 12:30 slot on June 29, 1964.

I remember in the 1984-86 version (watching it in USA reruns) that Monty picked an old man dressed as Uncle Sam.  The guy kept $500 & avoid a zonk!

To my surprise, the name sounded familiar.  Monty met former 3 Stooges supporting actor, Emile Sitka.  Emile's the only supporting actor to work with ALL the Stooges (Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp, Joe Besser & Joe De Rita).  His first Stooge short "Half-Wits Holiday" was also Curly's last.

 Happy 40th anniversary to a show that endures in almost the same way TPIR does(given LMAD's almost perpetual reruns in the days of cable, and the several failed attempts to revive it over the past 25 years). One memory I have is from one of the few 70s syndie episodes GSN has yet to show: The Greenbergs(sp?) risk a Cadillac in the Big Deal to go for the SUper Deal and wins the $20K. Another memory(May 1985 from All New LMAD): Monty gets a memorable kiss from a man who wins the Big Deal.

 Fred Silverman, in his infinite game show wisdom(cancelling Password and Split Second in 1975 already), probably thought the show would do better there.

 According to Curt Alliaume, the shows 1:30 slot went up against Days of Our Lives on NBC, which seemed to be doing pretty well in the ratings. So, as Zach said, they moved it because they thought it would be a good move.

While digging through my old Bill Cosby records, I found that he did a bit about Let's Make A Deal.  Here's how it went!

Can you believe Let's Make A Deal?  And the people on that program they call Americans!

Man, I think they routine them people you know.

"Now before you get on the program, let's see you go (gibberish screaming)!  Oh no, you didn't do it good enough, you can't be on our show!"

One time I'd like to see that dude come down...  "In this envelope..."

(gibberish screaming)

"In this envelope is $300!"

"Or you could have what's behind the curtain!"

"Make your choice."

"I'll take the curtain."

And they open it up, "Oh my goodness, there it is!  A small box with an ant in it!"

And the lady pull out a gun & say, "Give me the $300!"

"Oh no you made a mistake!"

"No you made a mistake, when you showed me the ant!  Now give me the envelope!"

Anything's gonna get crappy ratings opposite American Idol...and I thought Bush did a good job, all things considered.

The winners of the Big Deal ended up with a color TV worth $899. Pretty good, since Color TV's weren't that expensive back then!

 They were looking for an i.e.  30-something face in Billy Bush, he did as well as could be expected given the shoes he had to fill. Monty was kicked into hosting the last two revivals of LMAD prior to this one. He didn't want to host the 1990 version but was bought in to try to save the show, but it didn't. I think he had an idea for a talk show c. 1984 called For the People, but word is that Telepictures would rather have an LMAD revival, so he bought LMAD back.
