Cues to the Director
« on: January 01, 2004, 02:59:14 AM »
We've touched on these things over the years, and one of the worst offenders was said to be Dennis James on TPIR. What exactly are they? Just gestures or words a host says that tell the director to cut to another camera? What's a good example of an obvious one? I'm sure I could guess and stumble upon some, but why have a thread with just a rhetorical question? :)

Cues to the Director

See my remark about emcee-isms being scripted language.

"Here's the first item up for bids."

"This is your showcase."

"We'll be right back after this."

"Now let's meet our next team of challengers."

"Will our first guest enter and sign in please?"

"Let's show everyone what your line is."

"What do we have behind door number three?"

These are all lines that cue a director to take action.
