So instead of sending us on a wild goose hunt for some morsel of whatever, why not just lead off with that? In 101 we learned about not burying the lede.

Honestly, at this point it feels like Jamey's doing this just to increase his post count.

Regardless, the article itself (Page 24 of the PDF) mentions that Greed was going to go on the air less than two months after being created, CBS' plans to revive The $64,000 Question (Mike Burger reviewed the pilot) and What's My Line? plus bring in a new show called Survivor, a mention of some primetime network games that failed in the 1980s-90s, and a decent-length mention of the quiz show scandals that somehow manages to avoid the one that caused the ball to get rolling in the first place (Dotto).

There's also a short bio on Michael Davies, explaining how he imported Millionaire to the States. His closing quote raised an eyebrow, though:
Quote from: Michael Davies
I never want to be considered the game show king; to me, that's like being considered the king of all beepers.

From what I recall the pace of germination to production of Greed would make the forty-day period of Blockbusters positively ponderous by comparison.

There are so many things I would have done differently (in fact, my version would have been nearer a quizzing version of Crystal Maze and Trivia Trap's end game than an overt copycat), but here we are. Did Greed ever top Millionaire when the shows went head-on?

I don't think it came anywhere close. From what I remember, the only show from that bunch that was competitive in the ratings was "Twenty One".
