GSN Weekday Schedule Changes Starting Monday, April 21
« on: April 15, 2014, 09:41:05 AM »
http://www.gsn.com/cgi/onair/program_schedule.html confirms that GSN's schedule is going to change on Monday, and there are some major ones affecting the morning schedule.

Rather than list all of the changes, I'll simply give the new morning schedule (all times ET):

8:00 AM:  Match Game
8:30 AM:  Match Game
9:00 AM:  Password Plus
9:30 AM:  Whammy
10:00 AM:  $25K Pyramid
10:30 AM:  Sale of the Century
11:00 AM:  Super Password
11:30 AM:  Lingo (Woolery)

The rest of the schedule looks unchanged, except Chain Reaction (Lane) replaces The Pyramid.  No word yet on whether any of these will feature new blocks of episodes.

So, it looks like we wave goodbye yet again to classic PYL and Blockbusters, which is a little disappointing to me since it's been nice to wake up and have breakfast with these two shows.  $100K Pyramid disappears as well.  But, I'm impressed and surprised they kept Sale around.

Weekend schedule changes, if any, have not been released yet, as far as I can tell.

Actually, Press Your Luck and Blockbusters swap places with Password Plus and Whammy! on weekends. Understandable that they would give PYL a weekday break, since they've been running the same 57 episodes for over a year now; however, PYL usually is their highest rated morning show.

Ah; just saw the PDFs with weekends updated.  Thanks for the correction/notification.

The PDFs also confirm that no new episodes of classics have been acquired as of yet.

Agreed on PYL being essentially run into the ground, so I think giving it a spot on weekends isn't too bad of an idea, just to give it a rest.  And, hey; nice to know that weekend breakfasts can be spent with those shows now.

I just had a look at the PDF. Looks like they will be starting with Patty Duke & Brian Mitchell May 6, 1985 to May 10, 1985

That's groovy news! Now there's two things I'm looking forward to on GSN; this and the new American Bible Challenge season.

Looking at said schedules, syndie Sale will get back up to #S-068 (the last episode of the current lease) on May 23, so it's always possible there's more to come.

New to GSN ever or just in recent memory?  Some of you guys think the entire history of GSN goes back maybe five years.  Pyramid has been on the network a really long time.  I'd be delighted if these were shows we really had never seen before on the network.

New to GSN. These particular episodes have been on another network before; 1989 and once more in 1994 on USA Cable Network.

How do you know? There was a fairly substantial bit of $25k and $100k run when it was picked up in 1998. Matt's question isn't out of school.

I have spoken with Brendan (pyrfan) several times on its rerun history on USA Network. That is how I know.

That's the answer to the wrong question. I don't care about USA or whatever other network; I care specifically about the phrase "new to GSN" which I find particularly odious and generally unprovable.

Specifically, September 20, 1982-September 26, 1983, then November 16, 1987-July 1, 1988. As for the $100,000 Pyramid, the only episode that was MIA since its only airing on USA was the January 15, 1988 episode(the episode before the very short Tournament #10, which didn't even last a half a week).
